Try to be courteous and polite to locals as you reach your destination. Say for example that there’s a language barrier between you and the locals, simply ask in signs. Many will surely be happy to help. As much as possible, try to avoid local transportation as you are traveling. To have a total freedom or where you want to go and get a sense of the place, consider renting a car.
